What happens to your file after you scan and upload it

The phrase \u201cprint from your phone\u201d usually means one of two things: installing a printer driver app, or emailing a file to a print service. HDPrint does neither. You do not install anything. You do not create an account. You scan, upload, and pay.

What You Actually Need

• A smartphone with a camera (iOS or Android, any recent version)
• A working internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
• The file you want to print, saved locally or in a cloud drive
• The QR code displayed at the participating shop

Step by Step

1. Find the QR code

Look for a printed QR code at the shop counter. It is usually displayed on a sign, a counter card, or a small stand. The shop owner will point you to it if it is not immediately visible.

2. Scan it

Use your phone\u2019s default camera app. On iOS (iPhone 11 and later) and Android (Android 10 and later), you do not need a QR code scanning app — the camera detects QR codes automatically and shows a notification. Tap the notification to open the link.

3. Upload your file

The page that opens is the shop\u2019s ordering page. Tap the upload area, select your file from your phone\u2019s storage or a connected cloud drive, and wait for the preview to load. The preview shows the page count and a rendering of each page.

4. Configure your print options

Use the on-screen controls to set:

• Paper size (A4, A3, Letter, etc.)
• Colour or black-and-white
• Single-sided or double-sided (duplex)
• Number of copies
• Page range (all pages, or a subset like \u201c1-5\u201d)

5. Review and pay

The pricing is calculated and shown before you confirm. Pay via the payment gateway. You will receive an order confirmation with a pickup code.

6. Collect your prints

Go to the shop, give your pickup code to the staff, and collect your prints. No need to explain anything — the order is already configured and in the queue.

What If I Do Not Have the App Installed?

There is no app. The whole experience runs in your phone\u2019s web browser. The first time you open the ordering page, the browser may ask for permission to access your camera (for scanning) and your files. These permissions are only used for the session — they are not retained after you close the tab.

What About Older Phones?

If your phone does not detect QR codes automatically (iOS before iOS 11, very old Android), you can use any QR code scanning app from the app store. These apps use the camera just like the built-in scanner. The important thing is that once the link opens, no additional software is needed.

FAQ

What if my file is too large to upload from my phone?

HDPrint has a configurable file size limit. Most everyday documents (PDFs under 20 pages, images under 10 MB) are well within limits. If your file is too large, try exporting it as a lower-resolution PDF, or break the document into smaller parts.

What if I make a mistake in my order?

Contact the shop directly using the support information on the order confirmation. Orders can be cancelled before the shop begins processing.

Do I need an account to print?

No. The basic ordering flow is account-free. You can track your order as a guest using the order number. Creating an account lets you see your order history and access saved projects in Print Studio.
