Importing an existing Word document
What you can upload, what gets converted, and what to do if your file type is not supported.
Supported file types for import
HDPrint accepts a focused set of formats tuned for real print shop jobs.
Print Studio (canvas)
- PDF — opens as a flat image per page. Vector text inside the PDF is preserved as text where possible.
- JPG / PNG / WebP — opens as a placed image. Use crop and adjustment tools to size for print.
- SVG — opens as a vector group. Each path becomes an editable vector element.
Print Sheet (spreadsheet)
- CSV — opens with a column-type prompt. Declare text, number, date, or currency per column.
- XLSX / XLS — opens with a sheet-picker dialog. Formulas are imported; styles are ignored.
Print Doc (word processor)
- DOCX — opens with a fidelity note if advanced features are not supported. Headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, and basic formatting come across cleanly.
- PDF — opens as read-only. You can re-export it after opening in Print Doc.
- TXT / MD — opens as plain text. Markdown renders to styled paragraphs.
Office conversion
When you upload an unsupported Office format (e.g. old .doc), HDPrint can convert it server-side if the operator has enabled the conversion endpoint. See the deployment notes.
Limitations
- Password-protected files are not supported.
- Files exceeding the size limit are rejected with a clear error. See File size and format limits.
