Charts and data visualization basics

Number formats, alignment, fills, borders, and conditional formatting in Print Sheet.

Formatting cells and ranges

Number formats

Select a range and open the format panel. The most common formats:

  • Number — decimals, thousands separator
  • Currency — symbol and decimal places
  • Percent — multiply by 100 and add %
  • Date — short, medium, long, custom
  • Time — duration in hours, minutes, seconds
  • Text — treat as text even if it looks like a number

Alignment

  • Horizontal: left, centre, right
  • Vertical: top, middle, bottom
  • Wrap text: enable to display multi-line text in a single cell
  • Indent: shift content from the left edge

Fills and borders

Apply a fill colour or pattern to a range. Add borders to individual edges, all edges, or just a divider between two ranges.

Conditional formatting

Use Format -> Conditional formatting to apply formatting based on a rule. Examples:

  • Highlight cells greater than 100
  • Colour the top 10% of a range
  • Apply a colour scale from red to green
  • Show data bars inside cells
