Print quality guide: DPI, bleed, and margins inside HDPrint
Set page size, orientation, and margins. Configure mirror margins for double-sided printing.
Page layout and margins
Page size
Open File -> Page setup to choose a size:
- A4, A3, A5
- Letter, Legal, Tabloid
- Custom dimensions
Orientation
Switch between Portrait and Landscape. The canvas updates immediately.
Margins
Set the top, bottom, left, and right margins independently. Values are in millimetres. A common choice for formal documents is 25 mm all around. For drafts, 20 mm is fine.
Mirror margins
For double-sided printing, enable Mirror margins. This swaps the inside and outside margins on even pages so that the binding edge has enough room when the document is printed on both sides and bound.
Gutter
The gutter adds extra space to the binding edge. Use this when binding a multi-page document with comb binding or stitching — the extra space prevents text from being lost in the fold.
