Understanding print pricing before you order
Pick the right paper size, colour mode, copies, duplex, and page range for your print job.
Choosing print settings
Paper size
Common options:
- A4 — standard for most documents (210 x 297 mm)
- A3 — twice the area of A4, used for posters and large diagrams
- Letter — 8.5 x 11 inches, used in the United States
- Legal — 8.5 x 14 inches, used in the US for legal documents
- A5 — half of A4, used for booklets and handouts
The page size available depends on the shop's printer configuration.
Color mode
- Black and white — significantly cheaper, suitable for text-heavy documents
- Color — used for images, charts, flyers, and presentations
Copies
Set the number of copies. Each copy is identical to the first.
Duplex
- Simplex — single-sided
- Duplex — double-sided. Cuts paper use in half. Works best with paper 80 GSM or heavier.
Page range
- All pages — the entire document
- Specific range — for example,
1-5or1, 3, 5-7
Use a specific range when you only need a few pages from a large document.
Paper type
