Supported file types for import
Open DOCX files in Print Doc. What imports cleanly and what requires manual cleanup.
Importing an existing Word document
Open the file
Choose File -> Open and select a DOCX or DOC file. Print Doc imports the document and shows a conversion note listing any features that could not be preserved.
What imports cleanly
- Headings (H1 to H6)
- Body paragraphs
- Bold, italic, underline
- Ordered and unordered lists
- Tables (basic structure and content)
- Embedded images
- Hyperlinks
What may need cleanup
- Complex table formatting (merged cells, cell shading) — basic structure comes through
- Track changes and comments — not imported
- Some footnotes and endnotes — basic text is imported
- Custom styles — mapped to Print Doc style equivalents
After import
Review the conversion note. Check the headings panel to confirm the document structure is intact. Fix any paragraph spacing or list indentation that looks off.
